The Norfolk Zoo offers a military discount (a military family discount for 5 is only $75 for the year membership). Any military can live on any of the military housing installations, on either side of the water. Lincoln Military Housing runs most of it and they are fantastic!?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

Fort Eustis, VA is the home to aviation mechanics schools. Quite a few soldiers here are attending AIT (Adavnced Individual Training). In itself it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a small base, however with Langley and Lee, Camp Peary and Yorktown close by there are plenty of opportunities to do what you want to do and pick the best location.
The Base is close to Newport News,Hampton, Williamsburg, VA. It is on a peninsula. Hurricane Season is June-November. They have a library, splash park (FREE), aquatic center with an indoor pool, a beach-like area, a golf course and a movie theater on Ft.Eustis.
